Air velocities due to natural draught caused by the indoor hot and outdoor cold temperature difference

The air velocity caused by the forces created by the difference in density of cold and warm air, can be expressed as

v = 4.43 ( h (th - to )/ (273 + to) )1/2 (1)

where

v = theoretical velocity (m/s)

h = height of air column (m)

th = temperature hot air column (oC)

to = outside temperature (oC)

The velocities in columns of different heights and at different hot temperatures are shown in the table below. The calculations are made for an outside temperature to = 0oC.
